[prompt] a letter

Write a letter to your younger self.
Dear Self,
I know you're scared. I know you want nothing to do with any of this, but you've got to stick it out. I know it's difficult and I know it hurts, but trust me—in the end, you'll be a better person for surviving and doing what you have to do.
Stick with Uncle Clyde. He knows what he's doing and he'll help you with everything much more than mum or da' can. Pass up any offers of getting drunk with him.
Don't try to pull any "holier than thou" big brother crap on Spencer too often. You'll regret it.
Avoid women named Kerry.
Love and protect your sister. I know she's currently at the point where she's an annoying little thing in pigtails and she hates you because you keep looking up her dollies' dresses (...don't do that), but she's going to be very important to you some day.
Most importantly: Know that you have control. It may seem like some divine power is steering you in all directions, but in the end, everything's ultimately up to you. Don't feel pressured or obligated. If you don't want to do something, don't do it. If you do, do.
And please, for the love of God, don't make an ass of yourself in the 80's. Your future friends will never let you forget it.
